Alternators battery charging

Battery-charging alternators for generator sets

The battery charging alternator, also known as a dynamo or auxiliary alternator, is the component that generates the direct current needed to recharge the starter battery while the generator set’s engine is running. It is not the main alternator that generates the generator set’s electricity, but rather a secondary alternator driven by the engine that keeps the battery charged while the equipment is running. It is a wear-and-tear part that must be inspected during periodic maintenance. Express shipping within 24–48 hours.

Lombardini Charge Regulators

In this section, you'll also find the Battery charge regulators for Lombardini engines (refs. 7362402 and 7362407). The charge regulator controls the output voltage of the charging alternator to protect the battery from overcharging. If the alternator is charging but the battery is overcharging or not reaching the correct voltage, the charge regulator is usually the part that needs to be replaced.
