SVE SAE 822 Control Panel — AMF for Emergency Generator Sets
The SAE 822 This is SVE's AMF (Automatic Mains Failure) controller for emergency generator sets. It continuously monitors the utility grid voltage and, in the event of a failure, automatically executes the complete sequence: it detects the outage, starts the generator set, transfers the load to the generator once the voltage is stable, and transfers back to the grid when power is restored. All without operator intervention.
The SAE 822 within the SVE range
SVE manufactures three series of controllers for generator sets:
The SAM series (SAM 706, SAM 712, SAM 713, SAM 716, and SAM 802) are controllers designed for stand-alone units—that is, units that start up via an external signal or on a scheduled basis but do not monitor the utility grid. They are the option of choice when there is no reference utility grid or when startup is managed by an external system.
The SAE 822 It is the only AMF model from SVE available at Sorilux: it monitors the grid, detects faults, and manages the switchover autonomously. It is the ideal control panel for emergency generators that must start automatically in the event of a power outage.
The ATSC 824 It is specifically designed for automatic transfer switching (ATS) applications between the utility grid and a generator set, with transfer contactor control.
Key features
Operating modes: OFF, Automatic, Manual, Periodic Test (weekly or monthly, with or without load), Grid Override, and Group Override.
Display and dimensions: 4-line x 20-character LCD display. Displays mains voltmeters (3-phase, single and composite voltages), generator voltmeter (3-phase), generator ammeter (3-phase), active power in kVA, total and partial operating hours, battery voltage, oil pressure in bar, coolant temperature in °C, and fuel level in %.
Settings: 40 parameters that can be configured directly from the control panel without the need for tools or software. Available in Spanish, English, and French.
Safety features and alarms: Monitoring of three-phase mains voltage (adjustable limits), incorrect phase sequence, mains imbalance, generator voltage and frequency, current overload, battery voltage, low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, overspeed, emergency stop button, low fuel level, scheduled maintenance warning, and 2 additional configurable alarms.
Compatibility with switching components: Latching contactors, motorized switches, and motorized changeover switches.
Compatible networks: Three-phase grid/generator systems from 100 to 480 V, 50–60 Hz, in star configuration with or without a neutral, three-phase in delta configuration, and single-phase.

FAQ
Is the SAE 822 compatible with gasoline engines? Yes, it is compatible with both diesel and gasoline engines. It includes a selectable glow plug/choke function for gasoline engines.
What switching components is the SAE 822 compatible with? It is compatible with latching contactors, motorized switches, and motorized changeover switches. The choice depends on the type of transfer switch used in your installation. Refer to the wiring diagram in the manual to confirm the correct wiring for each case.
Can I program it without software or a computer? Yes, the 40 configurable parameters can be adjusted directly using the buttons on the front panel. You don't need any software or a computer connection for basic setup.
What is the difference between the SAE 822 and the SAM series models? SAM models are standalone controllers: they manage the start-up and shutdown of the generator set but do not monitor the utility grid. The SAE 822 includes full AMF functionality: it detects a grid failure, starts the generator, transfers the load, and transfers back to the grid when power is restored. If you need the generator to start automatically during a power outage, you need the SAE 822.
