Carlor Topstart 2000 W Heating Element: Engine Preheating via Forced Circulation
The Topstart 2000 W from Carlor Engineering is an electric forced-circulation engine preheater designed for generator sets and water-cooled internal combustion engines that require reliable cold starts. Within the Topstart range (1 to 3 kW), this 2 kW model is suitable for both stationary and mobile installations.
It features a wet-rotor circulation pump with a flow rate of 1.6 to 2 m³/h and a head of up to 3 meters, enabling rapid and uniform preheating without the need for an external pump. The heating element is made of Incoloy 800, with a specific power of less than 7.5 W/cm², which extends its service life and that of the refrigerant.
It includes a thermostat for regulating water temperature (range from 0°C to 80°C, 25A breaking capacity, and 100,000 cycles) and a manually resettable safety thermostat (activates at 110°C, 25 A breaking capacity, and 6,000 cycles) that protects the heating element in the event of a lack of fluid in the circuit or a failure of the control thermostat.
Technical characteristics
What power rating do I need for my generator set?
The power rating is selected based on the circuit's refrigerant volume and the installation's minimum ambient temperature; the Topstart series ranges from 1 to 3 kW. If you have questions about which model is right for your engine, contact us at based on the displacement or the refrigerant volume in the circuit.
