Do you need more than 8.5 KVA of single-phase power?
The S20W-130 is the highest-power alternator in Mecc Alte’s single-phase lineup at 3,000 RPM. If your application requires more power, your options are to switch to an operating speed of 1,500 RPM with the ECP series alternators—which range from 6.5 kVA to much higher power ratings in a three-phase configuration—or to consider a three-phase alternator with unbalanced loading if your installation allows it. If you have questions about which solution is best suited for your application, please contact us.
FAQ
Does the S20W-130 require an external capacitor?
No. The 40 µF excitation capacitor is built into the alternator and comes pre-installed from the factory.
What type of coupling do I need?
The B9/c23, B9/c30, and J609b types are bevel shaft couplings for direct mounting, available in various shaft and flange sizes. The free-shaft kit is for belt-and-pulley drive. If you have any questions, please contact us with the exact motor model before placing your order.
Are there any requirements regarding the direction of rotation?
Yes. To achieve the specified performance, the alternator must rotate clockwise as viewed from the coupling side. Check that your engine is rotating in the correct direction before starting it.
How often should maintenance be performed?
Since it is brushless, there are no brushes, commutators, or moving contacts to check. Maintenance is limited to cleaning the exterior and periodically checking the connections and bearings, following the intervals specified in the manual.
