Mecc Alte S16W-90 Alternator — 3.5 kVA, single-phase, 3,000 RPM

The S16W-90 It is the second model in Mecc Alte's single-phase 3,000 RPM range, with a rated power of 3.5 kVA at 50 Hz. It is part of the S16W series, which offers five models ranging from 2.5 to 5.7 kVA, all brushless with internal capacitor regulation. Designed for compact generator sets with a 3,000 RPM engine where compact size and low weight are critical factors.

The S16W series is brushless: no brushes, no commutators, and no moving contacts. It does not require regular maintenance of these components. Voltage regulation is achieved through a capacitor built into the alternator itself.

Available coupling options

The S16W-90 is available in four configurations. Select your option when adding to cart:

B9 — Bevel shaft coupling in B9 configuration.

J609a — Bevel shaft coupling, model J609a.

J609b — Larger-diameter bevel shaft coupling, model J609b. Suitable for motors with a larger coupling flange.

Free-hub kit (B3B14) — Allows for pulley-and-belt mounting for motors without a bevel gear, compatible with previous models.

FAQ

Does the S16W-90 require an external capacitor?
No. The 14 µF excitation capacitor is built into the alternator and comes pre-installed. You do not need to purchase or install any additional components.

What type of coupling do I need?
It depends on the motor to which you will be mounting the alternator. Types B9, J609a, and J609b are bevel shaft couplings for direct mounting, with different shaft and flange dimensions. The free-shaft kit is for belt and pulley drive. If you have questions about which one is right for your motor, please contact us with the exact model number before placing your order.

How often should maintenance be performed?
Since it is brushless, there are no brushes, commutators, or moving contacts to check. Maintenance is limited to cleaning the exterior and periodically checking the connections and bearings, following the intervals specified in the manual.
